Digital GPS Speed and Compass Sender

The Dakota Digital GPS-50-2 is a GPS speed and compass sender engineered for the custom automotive market, offering more than just speedometer data. Designed and built in the USA, this unit utilizes advanced accelerometers and predictive software to overcome GPS signal challenges such as those encountered under overpasses, in mountains, tunnels, or dense tree cover. Its unique electronic architecture ensures minimal current draw when off and rapid start-up and signal acquisition. With speed information updating 10 times per second, the GPS-50-2 provides exceptional accuracy. Its integrated omni-directional antenna allows for versatile installation placement. The device can also be used to activate cruise control systems, requiring high resolution and accuracy. For optimal performance with cruise control, the optional 600041 external antenna (110" cable) can be added. When integrated with Dakota Digital RTX, HDX, VHX, or VFD3 instrument systems (those with a black plastic control module), the GPS-50-2 offers simple connection to the control box for accurate speed, compass heading, altimeter data, and automatic clock syncing with fully automatic calibration. An optional SEN-15-1 sensor can be added for Outside Air Temperature display. The unit is also compatible with other aftermarket electronic speedometers, offering selectable 4k, 8k, or 16k PPM output signals (up to 158 mph) in Sine Wave or Square Wave formats. While not designed to control transmission shifting, it can supply 54,400 or 128K PPM signals for ECM use in unique transmission swap situations. The GPS-50-2 measures 4-3/4”x 2-3/4”x 1” for easy concealment and comes with a two-year warranty. For BIM-compatible control boxes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, part number 394194 adaptor harness is required. Earlier instrument systems with aluminum control modules cannot use BIM connectivity but can still receive an accurate speedometer signal from the GPS-50-2.
