Digital OBD-II Interface Module

The Dakota Digital BIM-01-2 OBD-II (J1850/CAN) Interface module is designed to integrate seamlessly with select Dakota Digital instrument systems, including GRFX, RTX, HDX, VHX, and VFD3 models featuring a black plastic control module. This module allows for direct connection to your vehicle's engine diagnostic port, enabling the extraction of vital engine and transmission data directly from the ECM. This interface decodes information from OBD-II J1850 (VPW, PWM) and ISO 15765 CAN (500k, 11-bit identifiers, SAE J1979 PID) protocols. It reliably outputs data such as speedometer, tachometer, and check engine indicator. Additional vehicle-specific data, like intake air temperature, transmission temperature, ambient air temperature, gear position, oil pressure, and boost pressure, may be available but are dependent on the vehicle's ECM and OEM sensor functionality. Dakota Digital cannot guarantee the presence or accuracy of these variable data points. For earlier Dakota Digital instrument systems with an aluminum control module, BIM connectivity is not supported. If your BIM-compatible control box has a 3.5mm headphone jack BIM input, you will need to add the 394194 adapter harness. It is recommended to contact Dakota Digital's sales or tech department if you have concerns about compatibility with your specific vehicle and its OBD-II protocols. Note that GM Connect & Cruise packages do not transmit gear position data, which will prevent the BIM-01-2 from acquiring this information.
