The Genuine BMW intake manifold adjuster, commonly referred to as a DISA valve, is a critical component for achieving optimal engine performance. Located on the upper portion of the intake manifold, this part plays a key role in regulating intake runner length to maximize both low-end torque and high-end power. At low RPMs, it lengthens the runners to boost torque, while at high RPMs, it shortens them to enhance top-end power output. A malfunctioning DISA valve can manifest in several noticeable symptoms, including hesitation during low-RPM operation, a rough idle, and the illumination of lean codes due to improper air-fuel mixture. Loud noises emanating from the engine bay can also indicate a problem with this component.
