DME Unlock Service for MDG1 ECUs

The FEMTO DME permanent bench unlock service is specifically designed for MDG1 Series ECUs manufactured after July 2020. This crucial unlock is a requirement for any vehicle seeking to utilize flash-based tuning methods. Modern BMW vehicles produced from July 2020 onwards feature an updated bootloader that previously prevented OBD flash tuning. This mail-in service, provided by FEMTO in Finland, resolves this issue by permanently unlocking your DME. Once the unlock process is complete, your vehicle's DME will be compatible with OBD-based tuning, enabling the use of popular tuning platforms such as Bootmod3 and MHD Tuning. The typical turnaround time for this service is approximately 5-7 business days, including shipping to and from FEMTO's facility. To proceed with the unlock, you will need to remove your DME from the vehicle and mail it to the designated service center. After the DME is unlocked and returned, it should be reinstalled in the vehicle. It is recommended to disable Over-The-Air (OTA) updates to prevent accidental overwrites of the unlock. Following reinstallation, you can then proceed with flashing your preferred tuning software.
