It addresses common issues with factory components like rapid heat soak and airflow restrictions, especially in tuned applications or during spirited driving. It features a high-performance Bar&Plate air-to-water intercooler core, 102 mm (4 inches) thick with 11 water cooling rows (compared to OE's 6 rows), resulting in lower inlet air temperatures (26°C vs OEM 40°C) and a 42% increase in airflow at 0.1 bar/1.45 psi pressure drop (873 CFM vs OE 615 CFM). Dyno testing on a BMW 340i 2017 with bootmod3 Stage 2+ showed a peak power gain of 5 hp, a highest midrange power gain of 18 hp, and a highest torque gain of 28 Nm.
