The Pentosin 81220142156 is a low viscosity, DOT 4 brake fluid designed as an OEM replacement fluid for many BMW models. Pentosin is a trusted OEM supplier for various BMW fluids and chemicals. This brake fluid features a low viscosity formula, which is critical for the proper functioning of modern ABS and DSC systems. Unlike normal viscosity fluid, the low viscosity fluid flows more easily through the intricate channels of DSC systems, ensuring prompt response and preventing a spongy or mushy brake pedal, especially in colder temperatures. The wet boiling point is 338°F, and it exceeds the wet point of DOT 5 fluid. It also has a dry boiling point of 265°C (509°F). For dedicated track or race cars, a Normal Viscosity fluid may be suitable as brake fluid thins considerably at track temperatures. However, for mixed street-track use or full road use, it is vital to use the fluid specified by the factory. Cars equipped with DSC (identified by a "DSC" button on the dash or center console) require this Low Viscosity fluid. Vehicles without DSC or with ASC+T typically use Normal Viscosity fluid. Using the incorrect fluid can compromise ABS and DSC operation and is considered a safety concern. This product comes in a 1-liter bottle.
