Double Pass Heat Exchanger with Dual Spal Fans

The AFCO High-Performance PRO SERIES Heat Exchanger, part number 80275PROB, is engineered for the 2003-2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. Lethal Performance played a role in its development, bringing a fanned setup similar to those on GT500s and Lightnings to the Cobra. This all-aluminum heat exchanger features a double pass design with a 360-degree welded baffle, forcing coolant through the top and bottom halves for maximum heat dissipation. The integrated dual Spal fans ensure continuous airflow over the fins, keeping intercooler fluid temperatures lower and more stable, especially during city driving or while at a standstill. This can help prevent the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) from pulling timing due to high intake air temperatures. For drag strip applications, the fans and intercooler pump can be wired to run independently of the engine. This allows for rapid cooling of the intercooler fluid between runs by circulating the fluid while pulling air across the heat exchanger fins, bringing temperatures down to ambient levels before the next pass. This cooler, more consistent coolant temperature can lead to more consistent performance and lower elapsed times. The AFCO 80275PROB is designed as a true bolt-in installation, requiring no cutting, drilling, or welding. It mounts in factory locations and can typically be installed with simple hand tools in about 30 minutes. All necessary hardware, excluding replacement fluid, is included along with detailed instructions. The unit is TIG welded with furnace brazed cores and pressure-tested before shipping.
