The Pro-fiber 38172 drive belt tensioner assembly is designed to ensure proper belt tension, alignment, and damping for superior engine performance. Featuring a 6-groove flanged pulley with a 2.76-inch outside diameter, this unit utilizes a durable torsional spring design to minimize noise and vibration, promoting smoother operation and increased longevity of the drive system components. This tensioner is compatible with 2002-2010 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 models, as well as 2002-2010 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.6L engine. Please note that compatibility varies significantly based on alternator amperage; specifically, it is for use on 2002 models with a 130A alternator and vacuum pump, 2003-2005 models with a 145A alternator and vacuum pump, and various 2006-2010 configurations requiring 125A or 145A alternators. It is not compatible with models that do not meet these specific alternator and equipment requirements. Installation of this assembly is intended to be a direct-fit replacement for specified OE numbers, including 36310, 38172, and K061195HD. The unit is constructed with anti-deformation materials to maintain structural integrity under extreme operating conditions. Proper installation is recommended to ensure the consistent tension required for optimal alternator function and overall accessory drive health.
