The shaft is protected from premature corrosion by a durable coating, and includes stainless-steel band clamps for better resistance to deformation and stretching. A special low friction sliding joint spline coating extends service life and dampens clunking noises. Special TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) dust boots provide better resistance to deformation, debris, oils, heat cycling, and ozone compared to neoprene boots. The Dorman equivalent (938-142) is described as a custom-built, high-performance component, direct OE replacement for perfect fit and performance, constructed with 100% new components, pre-balanced for swift and easy installation, and features serviceable universal joints for longevity.
