Driveshaft Bushing

The stock center support bearing carrier in many BMWs utilizes a thin rubber bushing that, while effective at isolating NVH, fails to adequately center the driveshaft under load. This can lead to the bearing sagging, compromising driveshaft alignment, and introducing undesirable slop into the driveline during throttle application and gear changes. Over time, this rubber can become brittle, crack, and further degrade performance and alignment. JXB Performance's upgraded driveshaft carriers offer a robust solution by keeping the driveshaft firmly in place. The design employs more solid bushings that prevent the bearing from moving off-center, thereby maintaining consistent torque delivery and driveshaft alignment. This results in a more direct and responsive feel from the driveline across all driving conditions, with customer-reported benefits including sharper throttle response, firmer shifts, and more immediate launches. Installation of the JXB carrier does not require removing or disassembling the driveshaft itself. The two-part design clamps around the existing OEM bearing. However, the original carrier must be cut off, necessitating the use of a cutting tool. The process involves removing any obstructing braces or splash shields, potentially lowering the exhaust for access, removing heat shielding, cutting off the OEM carrier, and then clamping the new JXB carrier into place. This upgrade is available with different bushing stiffness options: Street (softer, quieter) and Track (harder, louder). The material used is aluminum, and the stiffness choice impacts NVH transmission to the cabin. For those unsure, a 'Give me Both!' option allows for mixing and matching street and track bushings.
