The JXB Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Carrier Upgrade addresses common issues with the stock component in the 7P Touareg (2011-2018) and 958 Cayenne (2011-2018). The factory center support bearing carrier uses a thin rubber layer that, over time, becomes brittle and cracks, leading to reduced centering under load, driveshaft misalignment, and drivetrain slop during acceleration and shifts. This sagging can also put additional stress on the driveshaft joints. This upgraded carrier utilizes more solid bushings to ensure the driveshaft remains firmly centered, maintaining proper alignment and torque delivery. This results in a more direct and responsive feel during acceleration, shifts, and launches. Customer-reported benefits include more immediate throttle response, firmer shifts, and a reduction in vibrations caused by misalignment or deterioration of the stock rubber component. It also contributes to smoother low-speed on/off throttle behavior. The two-part carrier clamps onto the existing OEM bearing. However, the old carrier must be removed, necessitating a cutting tool. While the exact steps to access the carrier may vary slightly by model, the process involves removing braces, heat shields, and potentially lowering the exhaust for access. The OEM carrier is then cut off, and the new carrier is clamped into place. Customers can choose between two bushing stiffness options: Street (softer, quieter) and Track (harder, louder). Both are significantly stiffer than stock. The Street bushings are recommended for most vehicles as they better absorb drivetrain noise and vibration, offering a lower chance of transmitting NVH. The Track bushings are more suited for track or overland use. A "Give me Both!" option is also available, allowing users to mix and match or swap bushings to achieve their desired balance of performance and NVH absorption.
