The Lemforder universal flex disc, also known as a guibo or guibo joint, is a critical component located between the transmission and the driveshaft. Its primary function is to join these driveline parts, effectively reducing vibration and accommodating a limited range of flexibility. Over time, the rubber material in these joints can degrade due to constant torque stress and heat hardening, leading to common issues like driveline noise and vibration. Regular inspection of this flex disc during routine maintenance is recommended to check for signs of heat cracking and tears in the rubber. Replacing a failing joint promptly is essential to prevent further damage to the driveline components, which could result in more significant repair costs or even vehicle disablement. This particular flex disc has a diameter of 105mm and is compatible with a range of BMW models including the E31 840Ci (M60 4.0L and M62 4.4L), E32 740i/740iL (M60 4.0L), E34 540i (M60 4.0L), E38 740i/740iL (M60 4.0L and M62 4.4L), E38 750iL (M73 5.4L), E39 540i (M62 4.4L), E39 M5 (S62 5.0L), and E52 Z8/Z8 Alpina (S62 5.0L and M62 4.8L).
