The stock center support bearing carrier in BMW E90, E91, E92, E93 3 Series, and M3 models utilizes a thin rubber bushing. This design, while effective at reducing NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) transmitted to the cabin, allows the bearing to sag over time, compromising driveshaft alignment and leading to driveline slop during acceleration and gear changes. The OEM bushing is prone to becoming brittle, drying out, and cracking, often within 5-10 years. This upgraded driveshaft carrier from JXB Performance features more solid bushings that firmly hold the driveshaft in place, preventing the bearing from moving off-center. This ensures consistent torque delivery and maintains proper driveshaft alignment under all driving conditions, resulting in a more direct and predictable driveline response. Customer benefits include improved throttle response, firmer shifts, and reduced vibration. The JXB Performance carrier is a two-part design that clamps around the OEM bearing, allowing for installation without the need to remove or disassemble the driveshaft. However, the original carrier must be cut off, requiring a cutting tool. Installation steps involve removing braces and heat shields, lowering the exhaust, and cutting off the old carrier before clamping on the new one. This upgrade is available with different bushing stiffness options: Street (softer, quieter) and Track (harder, potentially louder). The Street bushings are recommended for most daily drivers to minimize NVH, while Track bushings offer maximum stiffness for performance applications. A "Give me Both!" option is also available, providing a full set of each type for customization.
