The EMPI 47-7311-0 dual 34 EPC carburetor kit is engineered for dual port Type 3 engines, specifically for VW Squareback, Fastback, and Notchback models. It is recommended for engines ranging from 1600cc to 1835cc. The kit comes complete with dual EMPI EPC 34 carburetors, dual port intake manifolds, a hex-bar throttle linkage, cone-style air cleaners, fuel hose, gaskets, and all necessary hardware. The components feature aluminum alloy hex bar with steel ball ends, sealed aircraft heim rod ends, high-flow aluminum intake manifolds, and gauze high-flow air cleaner assemblies. EMPI notes that all carburetor kits are sold for off-road use only, and carburetors are non-returnable once purchased. To optimize performance and tuning with dual 34 EPC and ICT kits, EMPI recommends adding a vacuum cross tube or balance tube linking both intake manifolds. This involves adding threaded hose barbs to each intake and running a hose between them, a modification not done by the factory but highly advised by experienced air-cooled mechanics for smoother operation.
