The CSF Race-Spec Engine Oil Cooler (part #8145) is engineered to address the engine oil temperature issues commonly experienced by BMW N55 engines under sustained high loads or in high ambient temperatures. Owners often see oil temperatures exceeding 130°C and even reaching 140°C+, which can compromise engine component longevity and lead to potential failures. This innovative cooler boasts a dual-core, in-series system, featuring an additional 5 rows of cooling on the rear side, offering approximately a 40% increase in heat rejection. It's converted to a single-pass design with a high-pressure return line for optimal flow. The construction utilizes CSF’s AC condenser technology with a 1-row, super high-pressure 26mm multi-channel microtube and a high-density, multi-louvred fin design to maximize surface area contact. This results in a temperature reduction of approximately 9°F-18°F (5°C-10°C) in engine oil temperature, depending on ambient conditions and load. Designed as a direct replacement for the factory unit, the CSF Race-Spec Oil Cooler provides a "drop-in fit" with zero modifications required for installation. It accepts all attaching OEM components, including oil line connections, mounting brackets, and shroud/ducting. The installation process does require an additional 1/2 quart of oil for proper fill-up, bringing the total capacity to approximately 7.5 quarts from the OEM's 7 quarts. This oil cooler is specifically designed for F-Chassis BMW models with the N55 engine. It is not compatible with F-Chassis SUV models, nor will it fit the F06 640i. Earlier E-Chassis models (e.g., E93 335i N55) require a different part number (CSF #8042).
