Overview

The Improved Racing MHX-520 is a high-efficiency, dual-pass oil cooler. It is designed to match the heat rejection rates of larger stacked-plate coolers but is 17% smaller overall and 19% lighter. The core is thinner with lower row and fin density to allow for better airflow to other heat exchangers. This cooler features CNC-machined billet aluminum end caps and aluminum tubes with turbulators for maximum heat transfer.

The Improved Racing MHX-520 oil cooler is engineered for high-efficiency thermal management in motorsport applications. Developed and tested using an in-house heat exchanger system and wind tunnel, this dual-pass cooler offers comparable heat rejection to larger, heavier stacked-plate units while being more compact and lighter. Specifically, it is 17% smaller, 19% lighter, and holds 39% more fluid volume than a typical 34-row stacked plate cooler. Its thinner core and lower row/fin density enhance pass-through airflow, benefiting radiators or other components positioned behind it. The construction prioritizes strength and leak resistance, minimizing welds and brazings. The end caps are single-piece CNC-machined billet aluminum, and the internal rows utilize turbulator-stuffed aluminum tubes to maximize heat transfer. The dual-pass design further boosts efficiency. The cooler is equipped with -10AN female O-ring boss ports on one side for convenient line routing, with optional fittings available in various sizes. Mounting is facilitated by four M8x1.25 mm holes located at the corners. Lightweight aluminum brackets with integrated rubber isolators are available separately to help manage vibration and prolong cooler life. The MHX-520 is pressure tested to 175 PSI and rated for continuous operation at 150 PSI. It is made in the USA and includes a Lifetime Warranty. Fittings in -6AN, -8AN, -10AN, or -12AN are included with cooler purchase.
