The LN Engineering Dual Row IMS Retrofit Kit (106-08.4) is an intermediate shaft bearing replacement designed for Porsche M96 engines originally equipped with a dual row bearing.

This kit replaces the original dual row bearing with a custom-made ceramic hybrid dual row bearing, developed by LN Engineering. It includes a superior ceramic hybrid bearing, a custom shaft cover flange with seal and bolts, and an improved center bolt.

The LN Engineering Dual Row IMS Retrofit Kit (106-08.4) is the original intermediate shaft bearing replacement solution for Porsche Boxster and 996 models featuring a dual row bearing. Developed by LN Engineering, this kit provides a custom-made ceramic hybrid dual row bearing to replace the original component. The kit includes the ceramic hybrid bearing, a custom shaft cover flange with its own seal and bolts, and an upgraded center bolt for enhanced performance and longevity. Fitment is specific to M96 engines originally equipped with a dual row IMS bearing. Model years 1997-1999 are confirmed to have dual row bearings. For model years 2000-2001, engines may have either a dual row or single row bearing; a visual inspection (comparing flange depth of 13.34mm for dual row vs. 19.27mm for single row) is necessary to determine the correct type. Engines from 2002-2005 typically feature a single row bearing, though some late 2005 models may have a non-serviceable bearing requiring a full engine teardown. Engines from 2006-2008 are equipped with a larger, non-serviceable bearing identified by a 22mm center nut. Installation requires specialized tools, specifically the LN Engineering IMS Pro Tool Kit (106-08.13) and optionally the Faultless Tools IMS Tool Kit (106-08.22). Professional installation is recommended to ensure proper fit and function.
