Overview

The Performance Distributors DUI Distributor is an all-in-one ignition system for AMC inline 6-cylinder engines. This unit features a simplified one-wire hookup and an internal 50,000-volt coil designed to improve throttle response and low-end power compared to stock systems.

The housing is constructed from polished aluminum and includes a high-dwell Dyna-Module for increased spark duration. It utilizes both mechanical and vacuum advance to provide a precise timing curve through a maximum of 7,000 RPM.

The Performance Distributors DUI Distributor serves as a high-performance, all-in-one replacement for the standard three-component ignition system found on AMC 232 and 258 cubic-inch inline 6-cylinder engines. By integrating the coil and Dyna-Module within the housing, this distributor simplifies wiring to a single 12-volt hot lead. Its internal 50,000-volt coil provides a hotter spark, allowing for plug gaps up to .055 inches, while the specialized high-dwell module increases spark duration to promote smoother operation, better throttle response, and improved low-end torque. Each unit features a centrifugal advance assembly tuned on a Sun distributor machine to ensure an optimized timing curve that prevents engine-damaging detonation. Compatibility and maintenance are straightforward, as this unit accepts standard GM High Energy Ignition (H.E.I.) replacement parts, such as caps, rotors, coils, and modules, which are widely available. Please note that this product is not legal for sale or use on any pollution-controlled vehicle in California. For optimal performance, the manufacturer requires the use of at least 8mm spiral core spark plug wires. This distributor is hand-built to order; please allow 2-4 weeks for production and shipping. It is backed by a one-year warranty from the date of purchase.
