Description

The Yukon Dura Grip Limited Slip Differential (model YDGGM55P-17-1) offers enhanced traction for 55P GM differentials with 17 spline axles. This unit is engineered for 3.73 and numerically lower gear ratios, and also accommodates thick gears. Constructed with a focus on durability, the Dura Grip features composite clutches for its limited-slip function and boasts Yukon's 4320 chromoly spider gears. The differential is fully rebuildable and proudly assembled in the USA, with all units undergoing extensive product testing. For installation and optimal performance, Yukon recommends using high-grade non-synthetic GL-5 gear oil and their specific LSD additive (part number OILADD). The use of synthetic oil is not recommended, as it may lead to aggressive or noisy operation. Note that a factory thin ring gear used on 1955-1956 carriers with specific casting numbers may require a new ring and pinion or a ring gear spacer when replacing a factory 4 series case.
