The AKG Motorsport BMW Solid Short Shifter is a chassis mount racing shifter designed for the E36 chassis.

This fully rebuildable, bolt-on shifter replaces the stock assembly with a precision CNC-machined billet aluminum unit. It features a race-spec spherical bearing to replace the stock ball and cup design, offering precise and solid shifter travel. The shifter is constructed from 6061-T6 aluminum for the base plate and housing, and 7075-T6 aluminum for the shift lever, with no welds present.

The AKG Motorsport BMW Solid Short Shifter is the original chassis mount short shifter engineered for BMW E36 models. This fully rebuildable, bolt-on design replaces the entire stock shifter assembly with a precision CNC-machined billet aluminum unit. It eliminates the stock plastic ball and cup design, incorporating a built-in, high-precision, race-spec spherical bearing for exceptionally accurate and solid shifter travel, even under load or during turns. Constructed for lifetime use, the shifter's base plate and housing cup are CNC-machined from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum, while the shift lever is CNC'd from a single piece of 7075-T6 aluminum. Unlike other designs, it contains no welds and is engineered as a direct bolt-on, eliminating the need for alignment or drilling. Weighing only 0.86kg, it is both lightweight and strong, offering the shortest available throw for a business-focused performance upgrade. The raised shift lever position enhances ergonomic shifting for quick, repetitive conditions. AKG Motorsport recommends upgrading to their Double Shear Selector Rod to eliminate selector rod movement. This product is recommended for RACE / TRACK use and is Made in the USA. It includes either a Tall (Black) Delrin or Short (White) Delrin shift knob. A note for installation: Due to its solid-mount design, upgraded transmission mounts are required.
