The SPA Performance camshaft is a performance camshaft designed for EA 827 engines from 1986 onwards with hydraulic tappets. It features a 276-degree duration for both intake and exhaust, with 11.50mm intake and exhaust valve lift. The camshaft is made of 1045 quenched steel, billet machined, and has a hardness of 52-58 HRC.

The SPA Performance camshaft is a high-performance upgrade for EA 827 engines (1781-1984cc) manufactured from 1986 onwards, specifically for 8V engines equipped with hydraulic tappets. This camshaft is designed for applications including the VW Golf, Corrado, Audi 80, 100, 5000, Quattro, Jetta, Passat, Scirocco, Sharon, Vento, Gol, Pointer, and Saveiro. Featuring a 276-degree duration for both intake and exhaust, and an intake and exhaust valve lift of 11.50mm, this camshaft is constructed from 1045 quenched steel with a billet machined finish and a hardness of 52-58 HRC. The camshaft is intended for extreme pressure applications and includes CMD anti-scoring lube #3, making it suitable for break-in procedures and withstanding high pressure interfaces. Installation of this performance camshaft is not a direct OEM replacement and may require ECU work, cylinder head modifications, and special lifters and springs. While it can be used with solid lifters, it requires the assembly and individual adjustment of valve lash caps, which should be performed by a professional to ensure correct valve lash values. The manufacturer explicitly states that no instructions or other parts are included with this performance camshaft.
