EA888 2.0 TSI Race Intercooler

The Forge Motorsport Race Intercooler (FMINT32) is engineered to significantly enhance the performance of the EA888 2.0 TSI engine, particularly in MQB chassis vehicles. It is designed to replace OEM intercoolers, including part numbers 5Q0145803H, 5Q0145803K, 5Q0145803L, 5Q0145803P, 5Q0145803S, and 5Q0145803N. This intercooler was developed and tested at Forge's UK headquarters to improve efficiency and performance, focusing on reducing inlet air temperatures (IATS) without negatively impacting boost pressure or engine and transmission cooling. Significant design considerations were made due to the confined space within the MQB chassis intercooler housing, which also accommodates the radiator and air conditioning condenser. Engineers increased the core depth by 10mm and redesigned the end tanks to maximize volumetric capacity and airflow. The inlet and outlet sizes have been increased to 76mm from the OEM 63mm, a 45% increase in surface area, promoting better flow and reducing turbulence. The final design utilizes a bar and plate core, offering over 83% more volume and a 10% increase in frontal area compared to the OEM unit. This intercooler provides tangible performance gains, including an estimated 16BHP and 20NM of torque, and up to a 58% reduction in inlet air temperatures. It is designed for a 100% plug-and-play installation, fitting directly to OEM mounting points and allowing for a reversible installation. The product features a durable black textured anti-corrosion coating for thermal properties and a stealthy appearance, backed by Forge Motorsport's lifetime warranty on hardware components. While this intercooler is designed for a range of EA888 2.0 TSI engines, including the MK7 Golf GTI, Golf R, Audi S3 (8V Chassis), Audi TT Mk3 (2015+), and Audi TTS Mk3 8S (2014+), there are specific fitment notes. Forge has not test-fitted this intercooler to the A3 Diesel, and there is a concern that the boost hoses may not fit, although the intercooler itself is essentially the same. Compatibility with the S3 (Reg G20KNY) has been confirmed.
