The Eaton 187C149A Detroit Locker Differential is a 100% automatic locking differential designed to provide ultimate traction. It is intended for GM 8.5-inch 10-bolt axles with 28 splines and ring gear ratios of 2.73 and up. The axle shaft diameter compatible with this differential is 1.2 inches. Eaton notes that special bearings are required for installation: For axles with small bearing bores (race O.D. of 2.89"), typically found on vehicles prior to 1999, bearing LM102949 and race LM102911 are required. For axles with large bearing bores (race O.D. of 3.06"), typically found on vehicles from 1999-2013, bearing LM603049 and race LM603012 are required. This differential is suitable for a wide range of vehicle usages, including On-Road: Work Truck / Towing, Circle Track, Drag Racing, Restoration, Street and Muscle; Off-Road: Work Truck / Towing, Extreme Off-Road, Light Trail / Sand Sports, Rock Crawl.
