ECU Replacement

The Stinger Performance PiMPx, powered by Megasquirt 3 firmware, is a user-friendly, plug-and-play standalone engine control unit for Ford EEC-IV equipped vehicles. It simplifies installation by replacing the stock ECU, connecting to the factory harness, and requiring only a vacuum/boost line and wideband O2 meter for startup and tuning. This system allows for the removal of restrictive factory components such as the VAM on 2.3T engines or MAF on V8s, enabling direct connection of an air filter to the turbo or intake tube. It also supports upgrading to modern coil-near-plug systems, moving away from potentially failing TFI, DIS, or EDIS modules. Featuring "Tune Analyze Live" auto-tuning capabilities, the PiMPx can tune the fuel table quickly by simply driving the vehicle under various conditions, often improving idle and cruising maps in under 30 minutes. It includes a base tune with dyno-proven, safe timing maps to facilitate initial startup and tuning. This ECU is designed for EEC-IV (OBD-1) Ford vehicles manufactured between approximately 1983 and 1995, operating in batch fire mode. Verified direct plug-and-play applications include a wide range of 2.3L Mustangs, Rangers, Turbos (SVO, Turbo GT, Turbo Coupe, Merkur XR4Ti), F-150s, Broncos, F-250s, and F-350s. It can also support Cobra kit cars, marine applications using Ford GT40 engines, certain Probe models, and Australian Falcon variants, provided they do not have a computer-controlled transmission. For vehicles with E4OD and 4R70W automatic transmissions, a separate transmission controller like the PiMPxshift is required. Hardware features include a Freescale MC9S12X processor, support for low or high impedance injectors (batch fire 4-cylinder only), multiple analog and digital inputs, an onboard 4-bar MAP sensor, and various ignition outputs. Software features offer flexible fuel and spark table support (speed density, alpha-N, MAF), individual cylinder trim, configurable idle control, boost control, variable valve timing control, multi-stage nitrous control, customizable rev limiters with launch control and flat-shifting capabilities, traction control, and rally anti-lag. It also supports flex fuel sensor input for automatic map adjustments based on ethanol content, converter lockup for A4LD transmissions, and real-time barometric correction. Note that this system is not for on-road use in vehicles required to be emissions compliant.
