EFR 9280 Turbocharger

The BorgWarner EFR 9280 turbocharger represents the largest and highest-power offering in the EFR series. Engineered for extreme performance, this turbo utilizes a massive 73.7mm compressor inducer and a high-flowing 80mm turbine wheel, capable of moving 110 lbs/min of air at a maximum shaft speed of 117,000 RPM. Its design combines a Forged-Milled Wheel (FMW) Extended Tip compressor with a Low Inertia Gamma-Ti Turbine Wheel, optimized for maximum flow and responsiveness. The compressor features a 91mm exducer and can be equipped with a ported shroud hose coupler inlet (4 inches) and a 2.5-inch hose coupler outlet with an integrated V-band option. The turbine outlet connects to a standard 3-inch V-band. BorgWarner states that newer models offer up to an extra 200 horsepower compared to previous generations due to optimized compressor wheel blade shape and cover contours, which have been anodized black for visual distinction. This turbo is designed for engine displacements ranging from 2 to 6 liters and is capable of supporting over 1000 horsepower applications. For optimal performance and to prevent damage at high boost pressures, a shaft speed sensor is required for all 80mm EFR turbochargers. BorgWarner offers this turbocharger in two supercore configurations: an aluminum version (part #12807100003) and an iron version (part #12807100005).
