The TorqAmp Kit is an innovative electric turbocharger system that aims to boost engine power and torque without the lag associated with traditional turbochargers. It features a compressor wheel driven by an electric motor, powered by a 48-volt battery and a 500-watt charger that integrates with the vehicle's standard 12-volt system. Designed for engines between 1.6 and 3.0 liters, this system is also compatible with existing turbocharged or supercharged setups, offering either to eliminate turbo lag or to provide additional power. The compressor is mounted on the air intake and is capable of reaching up to 20 psi while spinning at 70,000-80,000 rpm. The system's 48-volt battery provides boost for about four minutes, though it may require a 10-second charging period for every second of boost. TorqAmp claims the kit requires no maintenance and comes with a one-year warranty. Installation is described as relatively easy, with options for operation via a pedal or hand switch, or integration with the throttle position sensor. Examples of claimed performance gains include a 91% torque increase in a Toyota Supra and a 36% increase in a Nissan 350Z. The kit is removable and can be reused on different vehicles.
