The Pierburg CWA400 is a high-performance electric water pump engineered to provide optimal cooling for engines and intercooler systems. Building on the success of the CWA200, this pump delivers more than double the hydraulic performance while maintaining similar compact dimensions. It is designed for applications requiring significant coolant flow, capable of achieving approximately 150 L/min at 0.85 bar and up to 220 L/min at 0.55 bar. The pump features a brushless, fully canned motor for reliability and longevity. This electric water pump operates efficiently within an 8-16 volt system, drawing between 35.5A and 36.3A at maximum load, with a minimal standby current of approximately 0.2mA. It is built to withstand extreme environmental conditions, with a water temperature range of -40°C to 128°C and an ambient temperature range of -40°C to 140°C. The IP67 protection rating ensures it is dust-tight and protected against immersion in water, making it suitable for demanding automotive environments. The CWA400 is a popular choice for performance and racing vehicles, often utilized in intercooler setups. While the pump itself offers substantial cooling capacity, installation may require specific wiring connectors and mounting solutions, as suggested by available accessory kits. Early versions of the CWA400 supported PWM control, but newer models as of March 2024 are exclusively LIN versions, indicating a shift in control interface.
