EMU Black Engine Management System

It is a successor to the proven EMU system, incorporating hardware and software improvements based on extensive data collection. This system is versatile, targeting applications in race cars, road cars, motorcycles, boats, and stationary engines. The EMU Black controls fueling, ignition, and auxiliary systems for 1-12 cylinder engines, including those with drive-by-wire throttles and VVT. It can directly drive up to 6 passive or 12 smart coils without an external amplifier. Sophisticated drive-by-wire strategies offer wide throttle control with advanced plausibility checking for safety. Free firmware upgrades enhance system capabilities, adding new strategies, trigger patterns, and CAN data streams. The V3 software update introduces significant new features, including enhanced user-defined CAN support, custom logic, improved boost control, closed-loop sequential gearbox strategy, increased logging frequency, conditional rev limiters, and a fully completed built-in help system in multiple languages. The device is built according to IPC-S-815A standards for high reliability, featuring an IP60 CNC machined aluminum enclosure and components rated for a wide temperature range (AECQ-100 GRADE 2: -40 to +105°C). Key specifications include 9 protected analog inputs (0-5V), 2 EGT inputs, 2 knock sensor inputs, 6 protected injector outputs (5A), 6 ignition outputs (7A/15A peak), and 6 protected auxiliary outputs (5A). It offers serial and CAN BUS 2.0B communication and supports a wide operating voltage of 6-22V with immunity to transients per ISO 7637. The unit also includes a built-in wideband lambda input for Bosch LSU 4.2/4.9 sensors, an onboard 4-bar MAP sensor, and a direct input for a Flex Fuel ethanol content sensor.
