The Mahle Motorsport/Vandervell Race Main Bearing Set is engineered for high-performance applications, drawing on over 70 years of race bearing manufacturing experience. Formerly known as Vandervell, Mahle produces top-tier race bearings that have been trusted by F1 teams and professional engine builders. This set utilizes a proprietary tri-metal blend, creating a stiffer bearing capable of withstanding high loads common in race engines. The design prioritizes ideal oil film thickness, which significantly boosts reliability and minimizes the chances of spinning a bearing. Each bearing in this set features laser-etched identification marks instead of traditional stamped marks. This method improves heat transfer from the bearing and ensures the backing remains uninterrupted, promoting more uniform wear. The set includes 10 half shells, with 5 of them featuring oiling grooves. These grooves are intended for placement on the top side of the journal to ensure complete oil coverage. Key features include their UK origin with F1 technology, suitability for high HP engines, and the inclusion of 5 grooved and 5 non-grooved bearings, along with bearing locating tangs. However, it is crucial to note that these bearings *do not fit chain-driven 2.0T TSI engines* or Gen 3 Engines.
