The 3point8performance engine leash is an innovative solution designed to mitigate engine flex, a common issue that arises as the engine twists in the opposite direction of the crankshaft during operation. This torsional movement, if excessive, can negatively impact vehicle performance and durability. It can manifest as imprecise high-performance shifting, potential damage to electrical wiring and vacuum lines, and even driveshaft failure. Furthermore, engine flex dissipates energy that could otherwise be transferred to the crankshaft, resulting in a dampened throttle response and a less engaging driving experience. Unlike traditional solid engine mounts or polyurethane inserts that aim to stiffen the drivetrain but often introduce significant cabin vibration, the 3point8performance engine leash utilizes a steel cable system. This system attaches to the strut tower brace and the engine's hoist bracket, effectively limiting the engine's rotational movement without transmitting harsh vibrations into the cabin. The cable's tension is adjustable, allowing the driver to fine-tune the balance between a more comfortable ride for daily driving and a more direct, responsive feel during spirited driving or track use.
