The Enkei Compe 16" 4x100 Gunmetal wheel is a cast and forged hybrid wheel. Enkei uses Durville die casting and MAT processes to achieve strength comparable to forged wheels. The Durville process involves pouring molten aluminum alloy into a mold from the inner rim side, rapidly quenching it to solidify from the disc side, creating a finer metallic structure and enhancing tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. The MAT process spins and rolls the wheel rim on a mandrel, creating a "metal flow" similar to forging. This hybrid approach provides high material strength at a more affordable manufacturing cost than fully forged wheels, allowing for greater design freedom.
