Enkei wheels use Durville die casting and MAT processes to ensure cast aluminum wheels have strength comparable to forged ones. The Durville process involves pouring molten aluminum alloy into the mold from the inner rim side with the disc side facing downward, rapidly quenching and solidifying the alloy, which creates a finer metallic structure and enhances tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. The MAT process spins and rolls the wheel rim on a mandrel, creating "metal flow" in the aluminum alloy's metal structure, similar to forging. This hybrid casting and forging process provides high material strength at a more affordable manufacturing cost than forged wheels, while also allowing for greater design freedom on the wheel face. Enkei's design capability, built on extensive wheel design data and 3D simulations, ensures high stiffness without adding unnecessary weight by optimizing spoke layout, cross-sectional shape, and rim profile, and by shaving down areas where stress concentration is least likely to occur.
