EQT Vortex XL Turbocharger

The Equilibrium EQT Vortex XL turbocharger is engineered for performance, pushing Mk8 GTI, Golf R, and 8Y S3 models up to 550 wheel horsepower on E85 fuel. On 93 octane, it can achieve up to 450 wheel horsepower. This unit is designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for the stock turbocharger in the MQB evo platform. Key components include a larger machined compressor housing and a billet compressor wheel measuring 53mm/71mm at the base with a 76mm extended tip. The turbine wheel is a 61mm/54mm TD06SL2, and the turbo features an upgraded internal bearing for enhanced durability and performance. For Mk8 Golf R and 8Y S3 models, the Vortex XL installs directly with the included hardware, such as new O-rings, gaskets, studs, nuts, brackets, and fittings. However, for the Mk8 GTI, a specific retrofit kit is required. This kit includes a silicon turbo outlet hose, silicon reroute hose, billet DV mount, reroute hose adapter, plug-and-play wire harness, and hardware. Additionally, Mk8 GTI installations require an upgraded TMAP sensor and an OEM Mk8 Golf R PUT sensor. To support the increased power potential, several modifications are recommended. For pump gas (91/93 octane), an upgraded cold air intake, intercooler, and exhaust system are necessary. For E85 use, these same upgrades are needed, along with an upgraded low-pressure fuel pump. Software support for multi-port injection is also noted as coming soon. Compatibility with certain aftermarket intakes, like the Blaze Atom V2, may require specific adapters or versions depending on the vehicle model.
