The Mopar 8404C is an evaporative emissions leak detector kit designed for basic EVAP and general-purpose automotive diagnostic applications. This tool utilizes OEM-mandated STAR technology and patented UltraTraceUV solution to deposit non-contaminating dye at the exact location of system leaks.

The Mopar 8404C Evaporative Emissions Leak Detector Kit serves as a comprehensive diagnostic tool for identifying leaks in exhaust, electrical, and emissions-related systems. Designed to meet Chrysler specifications, the system allows technicians to test with or without smoke and provides precise measurement via control-valve calibration for .010" and .020" settings, as well as a flow meter calibration point of .040". Equipped with a heavy-duty hand-truck cart, mounting platform, and storage bin, the kit is configured for shop use and operates with either nitrogen or shop air. The system includes 12 ounces of oil, providing enough supply for approximately 600 cycle tests, and is fully user-refillable. The kit comes with a suite of professional adapters and service tools, including a combination light, Schrader removal and installation tool, and various adapter cones. It is compatible with a wide range of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models from 2006 through 2014, covering systems such as exhaust, DTC-based diagnostics, and electrical diagnostics.
