The Kenwood Excelon DAX800XR is an 8" digital multimedia receiver engineered as a direct replacement solution, designed to integrate seamlessly into OEM dashboards. It utilizes the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 and an APX kit for installation, which are required and sold separately. This setup allows for the retention of OEM receiver controls and features, including factory steering wheel audio controls, factory amplifiers, and secondary displays. Crucial vehicle information, climate controls, and battery voltage can also be displayed when connected to compatible vehicles. The DAX800XR boasts an 8" high-definition monitor with a capacitive touch panel and a flushmount installation mechanism. Its capabilities include wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, high-resolution audio wireless streaming via LDAC, wireless mirroring for smartphones, and four camera inputs (HD front and rear camera ready). Built-in Bluetooth, HD Radio, and Wi-Fi are also included. Installation requires specific components: an iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 and an APX kit are mandatory. The receiver does not include its own wiring harness; instead, it uses the iDatalink ACC-HU-KEN1 Direct T-harness (sold separately) to connect to the APX Series Kit's harness, though some hardwiring may still be necessary. Additionally, an optional KCA-HD200 HDMI cable is sold separately for HDMI mirroring, and a SiriusXM tuner is required for SiriusXM radio functionality.
