Extended Travel Coilover Kit

The Global West Suspension COF-781 Extended Travel Coilover Kit is engineered to enhance the performance and aesthetics of 1970-1981 GM F-Body vehicles, including the Camaro and Firebird, as well as the 1975-1979 Nova. This kit is ideal for enthusiasts looking to lower their vehicles for a pro-touring stance or a desired look, while crucially maintaining or increasing suspension travel. Standard dropped spindles can reduce rim backspacing and tire clearance, and conventional coilovers may run out of travel with significant drops. The COF-781 addresses this by incorporating an extended travel design with a raised upper shock mount. Installation of this kit requires specific modifications and may necessitate the replacement of stock suspension components. The stock upper control arm cannot be used as it will interfere with the raised shock brackets; a tubular upper control arm, such as the Global West CTA-71a, is recommended. Furthermore, Global West does not recommend using the stock lower A-arm and suggests their purpose-built coilover lower control arm CTA-71H. The kit is compatible with various coilover shocks, with Global West offering QA-1 (single or double adjustable) and Penske (single, double, or triple adjustable) options. This kit requires modifying the frame for accepting coilover shocks and springs and includes necessary hardware. Welding is needed for the frame mounts. The upper shock mount is raised above the frame to facilitate extended travel, which is crucial for aggressive driving or achieving significant drop heights without compromising suspension performance. Aluminum construction is a key feature for durability and weight savings.
