Extended Travel Lower Control Arms

The Global West Suspension CTA-71EXT is a performance-oriented set of extended travel lower control arms engineered for the 1970-1981 Camaro and Firebird, as well as the 1975-1979 Nova. These arms are designed to allow for a significant drop in ride height, recommended between 1-1/4 to 2-1/4 inches below stock, without the need for dropped spindles. The shock mount position is lowered to accommodate more shock travel at these reduced ride heights, which is crucial for aggressive driving and achieving a desired low-profile look. It is important to note that returning to stock ride height with these arms will require the use of longer shock absorbers. Constructed with durability and performance in mind, these control arms feature pre-assembled Del-A-Lum bushings. This advanced bushing technology offers a superior alternative to traditional rubber or polyurethane components, providing smooth operation free from squeaks or binding, and is designed to last over 100,000 miles. The arms also incorporate a sway bar mounting plate for added support to the ball joint area and utilize straps around the bushing housings to strengthen their connection to the tube. Standard ball joints are used, ensuring they can be serviced at any facility. They are an ideal choice for pro-touring builds or any enthusiast aiming to lower their vehicle significantly while maintaining adequate suspension travel. The design addresses limitations in shock travel often encountered with aggressive lowering, especially when using 18-inch or larger rims to avoid tire or rim clearance issues that can arise with dropped spindles. Installation will require a Lower Bearing Shock Mount kit, with Global West supplying bearing kits specifically for Viking and QA1 shocks (part numbers EXTQ-001 and EXTV-001, respectively).
