The Bullet Proof Diesel Fan Clutch Adapter (6502213) facilitates the conversion of your 6.0L truck's electronic, computer-controlled fan clutch to the robust mechanical fan clutch found on the 1997 Ford 7.3L diesel. This upgrade is particularly beneficial for fleets, company vehicles, and those frequently engaged in heavy towing applications. This adapter is designed to precisely fit the 1997 7.3L Ford fan clutch, allowing the 6.0L fan to bolt directly to it. It is crucial to note that this adapter is NOT compatible with VT365 engines. Upon installation, the computer may record a "soft-code," which is detectable upon diagnostic scanning but will not illuminate the Check Engine light. The 7.3L fan clutch, when installed on a 6.0L via this adapter, engages at lower temperatures (around 200°F) and may remain engaged for longer periods. This increased fan clutch activity can lead to a noticeable reduction in fuel economy and an increase in audible fan noise from the engine compartment. If the potential for increased fan noise is a concern, this modification may not be suitable. However, for those prioritizing maximum cooling capacity, enhanced air conditioning performance, and cooler engine temperatures during towing, and who are not bothered by additional fan noise, this adapter presents a valuable solution.
