It features a massive bar & fin core that is 137% larger than stock, providing significantly improved cooling efficiency to combat heat soak. This intercooler is capable of supporting 600+ horsepower.

The IE FDS Intercooler Kit is engineered for enhanced performance in VW MK7/MK8 and Audi 8V/8Y 2.0T & 1.8T Gen 3 MQB engines. This intercooler boasts a significantly larger 425mm x 621mm x 70mm bar & fin core, offering 137% more volume than the stock unit. The result is sustained power output and protection against performance loss during demanding driving conditions. Construction features CNC machined aluminum cast end tanks and hand TIG welded components, all pressure tested in the USA for durability and reliability. The design is optimized using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and offers a 9% lower pressure drop compared to stock, contributing to increased horsepower and torque. Installation is designed as a direct bolt-in replacement, requiring no permanent modifications for most applications. Mounting points align with factory locations, and reinforced brackets ensure secure installation. However, a note specifies that 2022+ MK8 and 8Y vehicles may require minor trimming of the plastic radiator shroud. It's also noted that due to its massive size and tight tolerances, some aftermarket radiators may not fit. Vehicle fitment includes a comprehensive list for Audi A3, S3 (8V/8Y) and VW GTI, Golf R, GLI, Golf, and Alltrak models from 2015 onwards, with specific engine applications listed. Post-installation, recalibration of sensors, and draining/refilling of the air conditioning and coolant systems may be necessary.
