The Integrated Engineering FDS Intercooler Kit represents a significant upgrade for VW MK7/MK8 and Audi 8V/8Y 2.0T & 1.8T Gen 3 engines. This intercooler boasts a massive 425mmX621mmX70mm bar & fin core, providing 137% more core volume than the factory component. This substantial increase in size, combined with IE's proprietary Flow Distribution System (FDS™) technology, ensures exceptionally efficient cooling. Constructed with in-house CNC machined aluminum cast end tanks and hand TIG welded in the USA, this intercooler is built for durability and performance. It is pressure tested to ensure reliability and is capable of supporting over 600 horsepower, making it suitable for high-performance applications. The internal design optimizes airflow, resulting in a 9% lower pressure drop than stock and contributing to increased horsepower and torque. The inlet and outlet features a high-grip, beveled design to prevent boost leaks. Designed as a direct OEM replacement, this intercooler requires no permanent modifications for installation, utilizing factory mounting points. However, for 2022+ MK8 & 8Y vehicles, very minor trimming of the plastic radiator shroud may be necessary. It is noted that due to its massive size and tight tolerances, some aftermarket radiators may not fit. Additionally, for optimal performance and system calibration, sensors may need to be recalibrated, and air conditioning and coolant systems may require draining and refilling, which are important considerations for installation. This intercooler is compatible with a wide range of VW and Audi models including the GTI, Golf R, GLI, Golf, Alltrak, A3, and S3, covering model years from 2014 onwards depending on the specific vehicle and engine. Its performance is validated by in-house dyno testing and real-world applications, including record-breaking vehicles, highlighting its effectiveness in maintaining peak power output and significantly reducing heat soak.
