FDS Intercooler

The Integrated Engineering FDS intercooler represents a significant upgrade for VW MK7/MK8 and Audi 8V/8Y models equipped with 2.0T or 1.8T Gen 3 engines. Its core is 137% larger than the stock unit, measuring 425mm x 621mm x 70mm, and utilizes advanced bar and fin construction to combat heat soak and maintain optimal intake air temperatures, reportedly reducing them by 74% compared to stock. The proprietary Flow Distribution System (FDS™) technology ensures that airflow is distributed evenly across the entire intercooler core, maximizing cooling efficiency and preventing power-robbing heat soak, even during repeated aggressive driving. This design is capable of supporting over 600 horsepower and results in a 9% reduction in pressure drop over the stock intercooler. Constructed with cast aluminum end tanks and hand TIG welded in the USA, this intercooler is built for durability and reliable operation. It is designed as a direct bolt-in replacement, utilizing OEM location and mounting points for a hassle-free installation that typically takes 2-3 hours. The high-grip, beveled inlet and outlet connections ensure a secure, boost-leak-free seal with silicone hoses and clamps. While it is a direct fit for most applications, 2022+ MK8 and 8Y vehicles may require minor trimming of the plastic radiator shroud during installation. Additionally, due to its substantial size, some aftermarket radiators may not be compatible. Fitment is confirmed for a wide range of vehicles including the Audi S3 (8V/8Y, 2014+), A3 (8V/8Y, 2014+), VW Golf R (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), GTI (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), GLI (MK7, 2019+), Golf (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), and Alltrak (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), all with 2.0T or 1.8T engines. The intercooler is CFD optimized and has been tested on in-house dyno cells to confirm its impact on horsepower and torque.
