The Ie FDS Intercooler is engineered to revolutionize boost cooling performance for VW MK7/MK8 and Audi 8V/8Y 2.0T & 1.8T Gen 3 engines. This intercooler boasts a massive 425mmX621mmX70mm bar & fin core, providing a 137% increase in core volume over stock. This substantial increase in size, combined with Ie's proprietary Flow Distribution System (FDS) technology, ensures incredibly efficient cooling properties. Constructed with CNC machined aluminum cast end tanks and hand TIG welded in the USA, this intercooler is built for durability and reliable operation. It is pressure tested and designed to handle 600+ horsepower. The design optimization utilizes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to ensure maximum efficiency. Key features include a 9% lower pressure drop than stock, high-grip inlet/outlets for boost-leak-free connections, and reinforced mounting brackets. Despite its large size, the IE FDS intercooler is designed as a direct OEM replacement, requiring no permanent modifications for installation on most compatible vehicles. Mounting points for factory components are machined in, and stainless steel brackets are included. The installation process is estimated to take 2-3 hours with basic tools. However, 2022+ MK8 & 8Y vehicles may require very minor trimming of the plastic radiator shroud during installation. Additionally, due to its massive size and tight tolerances, some aftermarket radiators may not fit. Fitment is extensive for MQB platform vehicles including the Audi S3 (8V & 8Y), A3 (8V & 8Y), VW Golf R (MK7 & MK8), GTI (MK7 & MK8), GLI (MK7), Golf (MK7), and Alltrak (MK7).
