FEMTO DME Unlock Service

The FEMTO DME Unlock service is specifically designed for BMW and Toyota GR Supra vehicles produced from June 2020 onwards. These later model ECUs (DMEs) feature updated bootloader restrictions that prevent traditional in-house bench unlocks for tuning. The FEMTO unlock is the exclusive method currently available to enable OBD flash tuning capabilities on popular platforms like bootmod3 (bm3), MHD Tuning, and MG Flasher. The process involves purchasing the service, preparing your vehicle by activating your chosen tuning software (e.g., BM3 or MHD), and then shipping your DME to MTech Performance. From there, the DME is sent to FEMTO in Finland for the unlock procedure and is typically returned within 7-15 days. Once reinstalled, you can proceed with flashing your custom tune. Important considerations for this service include disabling Over-The-Air (OTA) updates in your vehicle's iDrive system to prevent the tune from being lost. Tuning licenses, such as those for BM3, are sold separately. Remote start functionality can optionally be retained if it was an existing feature on your vehicle. For V8 engines (N63TU, S63TU, S68), a dual DME unlock is required, meaning both units must be sent. MTech Performance is not liable for improperly packed or damaged units during shipping. Supported engines include B48, B58, S58, N63TU, S63TU, and S68, covering a wide range of BMW models across various chassis. Customers are required to provide their vehicle's VIN number during checkout. The service includes international shipping to and from MTech Performance, with the DME being fully tested and inspected upon its return.
