The Turbosmart Electronic StraightGate40 ESG40 External Wastegate is the smallest butterfly-style external wastegate designed for tight engine bay confines. It features a zero-offset butterfly-style wastegate that offers enormous flow and nearly linear control for unparalleled boost control across the entire operating range.

Based on the award-winning eSG50, the eSG40 is electronically actuated via a servo motor and Turbosmart’s zero-back drive gearbox. This design eliminates the need for reference hoses, springs, and diaphragms, resulting in lower current demands and stable operation against high drive pressures. It includes onboard analog (0-5V) actuator temperature and valve position sensors, as well as a digital (PWM) valve position sensor. This electronic actuation provides the widest possible tuning window, from zero boost (if manifold priority allows) to all available boost.

The StraightGate40 is designed and validated in-house to provide new levels of control and flow. The zero-offset butterfly valve is subjected to exhaust drive pressure equally on both halves, pivoting centrally for a self-balanced valve against any drive pressure. This self-balancing reduces the effort required for actuation, even with high drive pressures, allowing for a wider tuning window. Increased flow is achieved through the efficiency of a straight-through valve, which avoids the 90-degree exhaust gas turn required by traditional poppet-style valves.

Available in StraightGate40, StraightGate50, and StraightGate76 models.
