The Halon B371 is a 13-pound fire extinguisher specifically designed for clean agent fire suppression using Halon 1211. This liquefied gas is pressurized with nitrogen and discharges as a vapor, ensuring no cold or static shock and no impairment of operator vision. Its clean-agent formulation means it penetrates hard-to-reach areas and leaves no residue behind, making it ideal for sensitive environments. This extinguisher is highly recommended for the protection of delicate and expensive items such as computers, electrical equipment, tapes, and film. It is also effective for automotive and aircraft engines, as well as laboratory chemicals and equipment. The B371 carries a 2A40BC rating, indicating its suitability for Class A, B, and C fires. Construction features include a durable steel cylinder and an all-metal valve for reliability. While Halon 1211 is an exceptionally effective extinguishing agent, its production was phased out due to ozone-depleting properties. However, its use is not prohibited, and recycled Halon is still available for specialty applications.
