The ATS Five Star Torque Converter is engineered for the 6R140 transmission, specifically for 2011-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke applications. This performance torque converter significantly enhances the vehicle's capabilities by featuring 160% more combined clutch surface, double the friction surfaces, and a 20% increase in piston surface area over OEM converters. The design focuses on increased clamping force through the larger piston surface area and improved reliability with a billet cover, piston, and retaining ring. It boasts a higher torque multiplication ratio of 2.4:1 compared to the factory's approximate 1.25:1, leading to improved vehicle response, enhanced towing performance, and a better overall driving experience. The converter is built to handle daily driving and towing duties reliably. Construction highlights include a patented Viskus Clutch Drive System for efficiency, a billet cover with a square flank drive, and square tab construction. It features CNC laser-cut Viskus Disc clutch plates, a billet piston with a patented flank drive tab design, and a proprietary ATS clutch formulation with advanced bonding technology. The unit also incorporates a redesigned spring dampener for increased torque loads, 4340 hardened turbine splines for longevity, fully welded turbine and impeller vanes, a CNC stator with high-flow windows, full roller bearing construction in high-load areas, and a 4340 CNC cut pump drive hub. Plasma welding is used for maximum strength. Installation Note: A 6 or 12-bolt design flex plate, such as the ATS Billet Flex Plate, must be used with this torque converter.
