The ZZPerformance Z3 Turbo Kit is engineered to be a complete, well-supported turbo system for GM 3800 powered vehicles, including Impala, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Regal, and Bonneville models. Unlike positive displacement superchargers, turbochargers offer greater efficiency, less parasitic drag, and cooler discharge air, resulting in enhanced drivability and higher horsepower potential. The base kit can boost a naturally aspirated 3800 engine to over 300 HP without an intercooler and over 400 HP with one. For supercharged 3800 engines, this kit can yield 400-700 HP based on specific configurations. The kit includes a Precision 6262 turbo with a .63 AR ratio and 62mm wheel, capable of supporting up to 600 WHP with supporting modifications. The wastegate is a TiAL 38mm unit that vents to atmosphere in the base configuration. The crossover and 2.5" downpipe are TIG welded from 304 stainless steel, with options for a 200-cell cat and a 3" exit downpipe. Powder-coated intake pipes and a K&N air filter are also part of the package. This kit requires several supporting modifications for optimal performance and function. A PCM tune is highly recommended, with remote tuning available. A fuel injector upgrade is mandatory, and a fuel pump rewire and Stage 1 voltage booster are recommended. For vehicles with automatic transmissions, an oversized radiator is advised for turbo applications, and all kits operating over 14psi or 400WHP should utilize the 1" transmission chain. The kit is compatible with ZZP's Rear Power Log and offers options for intercooler integration. It is explicitly noted that this kit does not work on F-body vehicles, but can be adapted for Bonneville models.
