Forged Connecting Rod Set with ARP 2000 Bolts

The Pauter 164/20 cross-beam design rod set is engineered for demanding performance applications in VW/Audi 12v and 24v VR6 engines that utilize 5/16" rod bolts. Forged from vacuum melt chromoly (E4340), these connecting rods feature a unique cross-beam structure that enhances strength and reliability by eliminating thin, non-uniform cross-sections and dispersing stress over a larger area. Each rod is CNC machined to precise tolerances, heat-treated to Rockwell C36, and fully shotpeened for maximum durability. This set includes six rods, balanced end-to-end, and comes standard with ARP 2000 bolts, rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength. They are designed to accept OEM rod bearings or 034Motorsport coated rod bearings and feature aluminum-bronze wrist pin bushings. Pauter's design also aims to reduce windage and provides a streamlined contour for improved performance. Optional EDM pressure-fed oiling to the pin is available at an additional cost, though not always recommended. Important Note: This specific rod set does not fit VR6 engines found in the R32 models that utilize 3/8" rod bolts. Dedicated R32 connecting rods are available separately.
