This crankshaft converts the reciprocating motion of pistons into the rotary motion needed to turn the wheels. Given the high speeds involved, the shaft requires significant torsional and bending rigidity, as well as wear resistance. The crankshaft features a full counterweight design, which includes weights on the arms of the crankpin. This counterweighting is specifically calibrated to balance the inertia forces from the pistons' vertical movement and the crankpin's rotation. By doing so, it effectively reduces engine vibration and minimizes crankshaft bending, which in turn prevents uneven wear on the bearings and enhances overall longevity. Key specifications for this Tomei crankshaft include a 98.00mm stroke, 52.0mm crank pin diameter, and 52.0mm main journal diameter. It is constructed from 4340 billet material and features a nitriding surface treatment for increased hardness and wear resistance. The counterweight design is full, with 8 counterweights. The total weight of the crankshaft is 37.04 pounds.
