The HPA FR450 IS38 Hybrid Turbo is engineered as a direct bolt-on replacement for factory IS38, IS20, and IS12 equipped vehicles, offering a significant performance upgrade. It features a custom compressor wheel (52mm/67mm) and a proprietary mixed-flow turbine wheel (54mm/51mm) designed to support up to 450 horsepower with a consistent torque curve from 3800 RPM to redline. This hybrid turbo addresses the limitations of OEM units that tend to lose efficiency at higher RPMs.
Constructed with precision CNC machined intake and exhaust housings, and a fully redesigned bearing housing, the FR450 Hybrid Turbo prioritizes long-term reliability. HPA Motorsports has invested four years of research and development into optimizing the bearing housing design to prevent issues like oil flow restriction that can lead to premature wear and failure in stock IS series turbos. The rotating assembly is meticulously balanced on a Schenk Balancer, and the complete CHRA is balanced on a VSR Balancer to ensure a perfect, durable assembly meeting or exceeding OEM quality specifications.
An OEM diverter valve and pre-calibrated wastegate actuator are available as optional additions. The product is compatible with a range of Audi and Volkswagen models including the A3 2.0T (8V, 2015+), S3 (8V, 2015+), TT 2.0T (2014+), GTI (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), Golf R (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), Golf 1.8T (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), Golf Sportwagen (MK7/MK7.5, 2015+), and Golf Alltrack (MK7/MK7.5, 2017+).
To maintain warranty eligibility, vehicle maintenance must follow the factory-recommended service schedule and any applicable manufacturer-issued Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). HPA offers a limited one-year warranty against manufacturer defects on major, non-consumable components, valid from the date of purchase. This warranty excludes damage from improper installation, normal wear and tear, misuse, racing, collisions, or contamination. Warranty liability is limited strictly to repair or replacement of defective parts, and does not cover labor, shipping, or incidental damages.
